OK. Its official and its ugly. IM OLD! Today is my b day... well, its ending east coast time. Im in San Diego about to go out for some fine California sushi with ma peeps before the gig at On Broadway. Keoki is coming too which is fun. He is a good guy.... and always entertaining! He may do a mixed CD for 611 Records. Of course, I'll keep ya posted of that business. :) So what else? Perhaps some sailing, power boating, or wave running tomorrow. I have to convince the masses to roll with me. See, many of my friends have already been boating with me and how do I say it... they arent as brave as I am. He he he. So, I have agreed to compromise with a nice day sail. :)
OK, so now we are taking it to a new level of bizarroness. :) Lets see... I have spent a few minutes in a sewage drain... nearly gotten stuck in the mud of the ocean between glaciers.... had massive alaskan king crab legs for dinner... bought glass japanese fishing bouys..... tried to get a falsely advertised $25 one hour massage and very much enjoyed listening to kevin destroy the people who falsely advertised their rates.... eaten buffalo burger.... enjoyed pizza delivered to me in a store... pet a moose... had a black tailed deer kiss me and my video camera.... Ill be adding pix. MORE LATER! :)
WOW! Alaska...yet again! Each time I come here I am blown away by how amazing of a place it is. Although I dont eat meat, I did indulge in a quality buffalo burger for lunch and mm mm... it was good. Im up here sans gf this time, since i dont have one. I brought my friend kev and he and i are having a blast. we have taken dozens of pix and movies of the amazing landscape and just begun our adventures! More later!
Holy smokes! Where do I begin? Is it here, at the present, from Munich airport at the Lufthanza Executive Lounge being a geek on the hi-speed connect at $12.95 Euros for two hours? Is it the raging head ache I had last night as i tried to hide it on camera for national television in Bulgaria? I have no idea. SO i will just rant:
Bulgaria was absolutely amazing. I arrived, quite exhausted from the WMC/M3 week prior, and pretty much went to sleep..... for 20 hours!!! I only awoke at 4 am to watch a movie and then go back to sleep. Mind you, Bulgaria is 8 hours ahead of my body clock so I am a complete mess now... and i was when I arrived. So, there went my wed night. Thurs, we drove to a small city called Blagoevgrad. There we did a radio interview with the Bulgarian American University radio which covers the whole city. It was reminiscent of my old college radio days. Good times. After that it was a cable TV show on electronic music. Great PR! Then we, Balthazar, Jack Rock, and I, played at this very cool undergound spot called Club 69. Now, at 6:30 am, after playing for 6 hours or so, we could have kept going for sure but we had a 90 minute drive back to the capital city, Sofia. So, after a few drinks and some serious party business, we rolled. The people there were so enthusiastic.... up for it, raging, rockin', fun, festive! The sounds was incredible in the cavernous basement club with sculpted brick. I will add photos to the gallery, this week! I promise! Oh, almost forgot to mention the short trip: Flat tire, hit a giant rabbit that appeared to be unscathed, and the strange old people who chose to walk in the middle of the windy road, at night, where cars drive by at 120 kilomoters/hr. Hmm.
So, we get home and sleep a bit. Weeeee! Later that afternoon we started our trip to Varna, the city on the Black Sea. George, the driver, was very tired so I took over. Flying across the country pothole ridden roads in the Alpha Romeo at a speed of 160 kilometers, I had a blast dodging potholes. Thursday, we were playing at a very large club called Comics. Talk about sound?!?!?! I thought the sound Wed was loud! This bass ripped thru my body. Unreal! Guess what? They liked it hard, hard hard! Thank god George, DJ Balthazar, told me Monday night before I left to bring a few techno records. Previously, he had told me that we had only house gigs. WOW! Big change! These people were going ballistic! Such a good time. So, back to the $30 Levah ($20 US) hotel just a block away... that wasnt all that shabby, actually.... and bam. sleep. But no, not enough.
Spent the next day (today) shopping a bit and then the drive back to Sofia. Now here is where it gets tiresome. We arrive home and yippeeee. I get a massive cluster headache. Its a migrane style beyatch that comes when your body clock is completely thrown off and you have an erratic sleep schedule, lack of oxygen, and are just plain BEAT! Well, thats me. So, I try to nap for 2 hours before the chaos. No luck. Still in pain. But, I have to make it to the club on time as I am going to be interviewed for national TV before my set and thats very important. So, I strain and we make it there. Ouch... that hurt. Anyway, I was very excited about all the publicity so whatever to the headache, I said! ;) Regardless, the headache subsided a bit and man.... the club experiences over there were spectacular! This, the third night of gigs was amazing yet again! Sickest sound ever, in each club! This one, Club Escape in Sofia was a very nice club.... fancy with people dressed up to go out and yet the Bulgarian way... they were going ballistic! So much fun! Geeez. Makes me sad to hear mcshit mcmusic back home and then travel overseas and see that people actually enjoy and prefer really cool stuff, be it house or techno or progressive. IT doesnt have to be cheese shit! WOW! So, I had a really good time! I played as long as I could before I had to rush home and pack for the airport. :( I spent 5 mins in the apt and off we went. Of course, there was smoking everywhere in the airport and I almost died from it... he he. But, after 24 hours of traveling, I made it to my grandpop's house for his 90th b day celebration with my aunt and uncle and step grandmom.... and what a joy that was! So hear I sit finishing this entry at 2:30 am, which is 10:30am according to my Bulgarian body clock... yes, I'm a bit of a mess. I so cherish the quiet time i will have of a day or two before i get back to the Philadelphia shuffle. Woot woot! :)
